How to Replace Bell / Boost button when the cable is not long enough

1. Remove the Grip:

  • Firmly twist the grip left and right while pulling outward.

  • Avoid using tools or lubricants – only hand force is needed.

2. Access the Bell/Boost Button Cable:

  • Once the grip is off, you’ll see the signal cable running between the handlebar and the grip.

  • Carefully free the cable to prepare for the next step.

3. Solder the New Button:

  • Prepare the cable: strip about 1-2mm using e.g. a utility knife.

  • Solder the cable to the new button.

  • Important: Keep the soldering temperature below 320°C to avoid melting the button.

  • Use high-quality soldering wire and flux for better conductivity and durability.

4. Secure the Cable and Reattach the Grip:

  • Use cheap/general purpose masking tape to secure the cable along the handlebar.

  • Apply a layer of T-7000 glue along the area where the grip will be installed.

  • Slide the grip back onto the handlebar, rotating slightly to spread the glue evenly.

  • Let the glue cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions before using the bike.
