We have been working on an improved prototype of original PCB for the VanMoof SX3 eShifter. This is an independent hardware improvement project focused on reliability and durability. We now have 10 prototype boards ready and we are looking for real-world testers from the community. The board has successfully completed three months of internal testing involving several independent users.
This is not a product for sale — this is a field test with real riders. The item doesn’t need to be returned after testing. The testing period is three months.
The primary goal of this upgrade is redesigning the UART communication logic. Furthermore, all original weak components are replaced with high-spec automotive parts.
This PCB, like any other, isn’t designed for a broken or unserviced rear hub. An unserviceable hub won’t benefit from an eShifter replacement; eShifter will simply break again. Always install an eShifter on a serviced rear hub.
Who this is for
You might be a good fit if:
- Your eShifter is broken or unreliable
- You’re comfortable removing and installing bike components (or can have it installed)
- You’re willing to share honest feedback after testing
- You will personally use and test the unit (not resell)

Your responsibilities
To participate, you agree to:
- Pay postage
- Provide feedback after testing (performance, issues, improvements)
- Use it yourself for real riding — not for resale
Two Participation Options
Option 1 – PCB Swap (DIY Install)
You handle installation.
You:
- Post your broken eShifter PCB
- Pay return postage
You receive:
- A working improved PCB to install in your unit
Best for people comfortable working on mechanics.
Option 2 – Full eShifter Repair & Upgrade
You:
- Post your complete broken eShifter
- Pay:
- Postage
- £50 installation/service fee
You receive back:
- Your eShifter with:
- New improved PCB installed
- Internal lubricant fully replaced
- Case cracks repaired (if present)
This option is for those who prefer a ready-to-install unit and a full refresh.
Important Notes
- This is a prototype, not a commercial product
- Long-term durability is part of what we’re testing
- Feedback (good and bad) is essential
- Please service the rear hub before installing new eShifter
- Limited to 10 testers
