🔵 Meaning of the blue lines
Eachblue linemarks aspecific toothon each planet gear that was aligned to a reference position when the motor was originally assembled. The purpose is to ensure:
Even load distributionamong the three gears.
Smooth meshingwith thesun gear(center gear) and thering gear(outer housing).
✅ Correct alignment
All facingtoward the center(sun gear position).
All spaced evenly, each offset by120°around the circle.
Reassembly steps
Keep the blue marks facing inwardtoward the sun gear.
Install the sun gearso its timing mark (if present) aligns with one of the blue marks.
Spin the carrier by hand - it should turn freely and smoothly.
Apply plastic geargreaselightly over the gear teeth.
Reassemble the planetary set into the hub shell.
⚠️ Common mistake
Sometimes, if one gear’s mark is off by one or two teeth, the motor may:
Feeltight or notchywhen rotated by hand.
Produce awhine or vibrationunder load.
So before closing it up, always give it amanual spin test— if it’s perfectly smooth, your alignment is correct.
